The Black Sabbath legend, who passed away on July 22 at age 76, was celebrated with a greatest hits medley performed by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, alongside Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt, at the UBS Arena in New York City.
In the emotional video, Jack shared, “I wish we could be there with you all tonight as you celebrate my dad’s amazing musical journey. I know for sure it would make him incredibly happy to see these great musicians carry on his legacy.”
His daughters ended the tribute with a spirited shout, “In the words of our Papa, let’s go crazy!” The VMAs also featured stellar performances by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Post Malone, and Mariah Carey, who received the Video Vanguard Award.
Since Ozzy’s passing, his family has shared heartfelt tributes. Jack wrote on Instagram, “I got 14,501 days with that man, and I know that is such a blessing.” Kelly Osbourne expressed her grief, finding comfort in fans’ support, saying, “Every kind word, every shared memory, has meant more than I can ever explain.”
